Getting you there safely – with the support of innovative assistance systems intended to increase driving safety, such as Active Brake Assist 5287, 285, 3021 which is installed as standard, strain on the driver is actively relieved, while the vehicle and load are treated with greater care, and the overall efficiency increased. On every trip.
Safety is at the root of our DNA.
Trucks that are very safe are not just an important development for all road users. They are also more efficient, because they are less often put out of action by accidents and they relieve the driver's workload. This is why we have been focusing for over 45 years now on developing innovative assistance systems.

MirrorCam1, 271, 287.
Available for Arocs.
The Arocs is equipped with the enhanced, aerodynamically sophisticated MirrorCam1, 271, 287. This can save up to 1.3% in fuel compared to conventional mirrors and enable improved visibility in the area of the A-pillars as well as to the rear – especially in difficult lighting conditions. On top of that, the MirrorCam1, 271, 287 always keeps the relevant field of vision in the driver’s view by digitally shifting the camera image when manoeuvring, turning off and changing lanes.
The camera system comprises two high-resolution folding digital cameras that are mounted on the upper roof frame. The camera images are sent to two 15.2" (38.6 cm) colour screens near the A pillar. To aid the driver in assessing the traffic behind him/her, the respective screen shows tracking and distance indicator lines as soon as he/she switches on the indicator at a speed greater than 30 kilometres per hour.
Traffic Sign Assist2022, 287.
The optional assistance system aids the driver in recognising certain traffic signs in real-time, displays up to two of them in the instrument cluster simultaneously and thus makes for greater safety. Furthermore it informs the driver when, for example, the speed limit is exceeded.
Besides speed limits, overtaking restrictions and their lifting, Traffic Sign Assist also detects warning signs.
Active Brake Assist 5287, 285, 3021
The fifth generation of the system assists the driver in that, under ideal conditions and within the system's capabilities, it can perform emergency braking when approaching stationary and moving objects, and perform partial or full braking for moving pedestrians, thus mitigating or even preventing accidents entirely.

Further Assistance systems.
Trailer Stability Assist245, 246.
The system increases driving safety by stabilising and preventively braking the vehicle and trailer/semitrailer moderately in possibly critical driving situations.
The assistance system stabilises the truck by actively braking the trailer/semitrailer in bends when the accelerator is released. The action of the engine brake is then also taken into account.
Camera integration.
This optional ex factory pre-installation enables the swift and simple installation of up to four analogue cameras. This can increase safety, for example when manoeuvring.
Parking brake, electronic.
It is automatically activated when the engine is turned off – but can also be turned on and off by operating the lever in the cockpit. To ensure an even greater level of safety, the electronic parking brake is also automatically activated in the event of the door being opened when the engine is running and the speed is 0 km/h. The integrated HOLD function is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill simply by pressing the brake pedal more firmly, for example at a red traffic light or on an uphill gradient. It is released as soon as the accelerator is pressed again. This avoids the danger of the vehicle rolling back when moving off on an uphill gradient.
Sideguard Assist248, 2020/Active Sideguard Assist248
Sideguard Assist248, 2020 and Active Sideguard Assist248 can assist the driver when turning or changing lanes by detecting moving and stationary objects in the warning zone on the right or in the tracking pattern in certain situations201, 211 and providing visual and audible warnings for the driver.
Available for Arocs.
Intelligent Light1.
This optional headlamp system contributes to enhanced safety through improved illumination of the carriageway. Besides the LED daytime running lights, it also includes automatic switching between main beam and dipped beam, as well as an automatic cornering light1 and front fog lamps1.
When turning off, the fog lamp on the inside of the bend is activated automatically according to the steering movement and vehicle speed, thereby illuminating the curve area more effectively. Automatic activation and deactivation of high beam additionally enhances driving comfort and driving safety.
LED tail lamps1.
The new, optionally available LED tail lamps1 make a decisive statement, notably thanks to the turn signal function which moves from the inside of the vehicle towards the outside to clearly signal the intended direction.
Equipment may vary depending on the selected vehicle type and configuration.
