Reduced fuel consumption

The lower the fuel consumption, the lower the overall costs.

The Arocs has all the prerequisites to ensure that economical driving does not remain a vague theory, but instead becomes practiced saving.

All Euro VI engines boast low fuel consumption. Further contributions to the low consumption also come from consumption-reducing drive programs, an optimised rear axle ratio252, MirrorCam1, 271, 287 and the standard, further-developed Predictive Powertrain Control system. Intelligent ancillary consumers and finely honed aerodynamics also play a role. This all adds up to increased fuel savings on motorways and A and B roads in comparison to the previous model.

Advantages at a glance.

  • Complete Euro VI engine range: four displacement classes, 18 power variants from 175 kW (238 hp) to 460 kW (625 hp)
  • Low fuel consumption thanks to economical, efficient engines and short shift times
  • Predictive Powertrain Control for the powertrain to reduce fuel consumption
  • Application-matched transmissions
  • Fuel-efficient auxiliary consumers
  • Sophisticated aerodynamics

Making saving splendid for everyone: Third- generation OM 471 engines have newly developed combustion systems and a new, integrated exhaust control strategy to improve the truck's drive. Two turbochargers tailored to the respective application enhance performance.

Newly developed, consumption-optimised turbochargers for the lower and medium output stages of third-generation OM 471 engines enable them to save more fuel than predecessor models. The upper output levels also benefit from the internal engine measures in terms of fuel consumption in combination with a performance-optimised turbocharger. Thanks to lower consumption, this not only reduces costs, it also reduces CO₂ emissions.

A broad selection of application specific transmissions also contributes to reduced fuel consumption. Short shift times and economical auxiliary consumers such as on-demand compressed air control and the power steering pump additionally help to reduce fuel consumption.

The economical Euro VI engines are available in four displacement classes from 7.7 l to 15.6 l and a total of 18 power output ratings from 175 kW (238 hp) to 460 kW (625 hp).

Exhaust-gas recirculation:
Thanks to the cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system, less nitrogen oxide and fewer particulates are produced during combustion.

Diesel particulate filter:
Particulate emissions are almost entirely prevented by the closed diesel particulate filter. An optimised volume control unit injects AdBlue® into the exhaust gas flow without air.

The maintenance-free Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive combines the advantages of the all-wheel drive system with those of the standard drive system. It offers additional traction when needed – and adds hardly any weight on long trips. Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive is up to 350/500 kilograms lighter than engageable/permanent all-wheel drive. In addition, the losses from the additional drive axle are removed. This reduces fuel consumption by up to six to eight percent in comparison to engageable/permanent all-wheel drive.

We offer the Arocs with Euro VI engines in four displacement classes and with 18 power output ratings, from 175 kW (238 hp) to 460 kW (625 hp).

The design of the Arocs has been optimised down to the last detail to reduce drag. From the bumper and the corner panelling right up to the roof – everything contributes to a low level of aerodynamic drag and thus to reduced fuel consumption. In addition, the optional MirrorCam1, 271, 287 on the Arocs can reduce fuel consumption by up to 1.3% compared to conventional mirrors. The optional aerodynamic add-on parts and optional tyre pressure monitoring system offer further savings potential.
